My Favorite Brushes

My Favorite Brushes

posted on: 6.05.2011

Whoa! I'm actually blogging! And I didn't even have to post a video on my Youtube channel to actually blog! I know I am repeatedly saying that I'm going to blog more, but it never happens. This stinkin' summer class that I'm taking is hogging up my life. Whomp, whomp. But anywho, here I am tonight blogging about something I've wanted to blog about for a while... brushes!

I love brushes. Like... If brushes were a person, we'd probably be married. Or be best friends. Whatever. Anyways, I am always on the hunt for awesome brushes. My collection is always growing! I was actually thinking of making a video about my favorite brushes, but I figured that instead of doing that, a blog on my favorite brushes would be the perfect solution.

Brushes are so extremely important, especially when it comes to makeup. I very rarely use the little applicators that come with the lower-end cosmetics, mainly because I don't find them to work very efficiently. Brushes don't have to be very expensive either, but I find that the expensive brushes tend to the best job (with the exception of certain brushes). So I am going to countdown my top ten favorite brushes of all time, after the jump!

#10: Confidential Brushes Large Powder Brush F34 - $16.00

I absolutely love how fluffy this brush is! This is perfect for when I want a light dusting of powder all over my face just to set my makeup. It is super soft and super awesome! The only downside is that it sheds a lot, but the price more than makes up for it!

#9: Crown Brush C325 Large Pro Angle Blender- $3.49

This brush is SO soft and SO fluffy... It is absolutely fantastic. And the price is ridiculously awesome! This brush blends eyeshadows SO nicely! I always turn to this brush when I see that my eyeshadow needs a bit more blending.. It does it quickly and efficiently. And did I mention that the price is pretty much unbeatable?!

#8: Confidential Brushes Small Contour Brush F09- $12.00

This brush is PERFECT for contouring. It is nice and small and fits perfectly underneath my cheekbones. The price isn't too shabby, either!

#7: MAC Cosmetics #239 Eye Shader Brush- $24.50

This brush is perfect for packing on color to the lid... I love it so much that I have two of them! You really never can go wrong with MAC brushes. The only thing that is "wrong" is the price... But totally worth it in my opinion!

#6: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Foundation Brush- $24.00

The thing I love the most about OCC brushes is that they are all synthetic- but you wouldn't even be able to tell! This is my all-time favorite foundation brush. It is nice and soft, and gives an absolutely lovely and flawless coverage of foundation, with no streaks whatsoever. A tad bit expensive, but if you get the pro discount, it is a little bit cheaper and TOTALLY worth it.

#5: MAC Cosmetics #168 Large Angled Contour Brush- $35.00

Another expensive MAC brush, but so worth it. This is the perfect do-it-all type of brush. Perfect for contouring, blush, and highlighting. Normally when going on vacation, I pack this is my "doing it all" face brush. It also is really soft and blends like a dream!

#4: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Tapered Blending Brush- $22.00

I love using this brush for crease work, and like I mentioned before, this brush is completely synthetic. You would never have known! It is nice and soft, and it never sheds. A little bit more dense than the MAC 224, which makes it absolutely perfect for blending work in the crease (in my opinion).

#3: MAC Cosmetics #224 Tapered Blending Brush- $32.00

I found that this brush was way too fluffy for my crease (because I don't have a large space to work with from my crease to brow) and wasn't as precise as I wanted it to be... But then I realized that this brush works way better for concealer. This is my go-to concealer brush, and it is an absolute favorite of mine! This blends my concealer perfectly, and the coverage is absolutely fantastic. My only issue is that it sheds a lot, but I'm willing to put up with it because I don't know of a better concealer brush.

#2: Crown Brush IB119 Deluxe Crease Brush- $2.99

I find that this brush is absolutely perfect for intense crease work. This brush really gets into the crease, but is fluffy enough so that everything blends perfectly and easily. And the price is seriously amazing. I don't really know how you can possibly beat a 3 dollar brush...

#1: MAC Cosmetics #217 Blending Brush- $21

This brush is my all-time favorite brush! When I go on vacation, this is probably the only brush that I pack for my eyes. This brush can do it all! I like how it evenly distributes color all over my lid, crease, and brow. This is perfect for when I'm in a rush and only have time to use one brush. Perfect for blending as well! I actually have two of these brushes, I love it so much!

So those were my top ten favorite brushes! What are some of YOUR favorite brushes to use?
