Curly Girl Problems: Styling Essentials

Curly Girl Problems: Styling Essentials

When it comes to curly hair (especially my curly hair), it just is not possible to let the hair air dry naturally without any product in it. And I'm sorry, but frizzy hair is just not an attractive look. So, hair gels and creams are absolutely essential to any curly girl! I also deem hairspray a curly girl essential, but I know many will argue with that. Not many people like the crunchiness hairspray gives, but it actually doesn't bother me too much. Just a matter of personal preference!

I filmed my very first curly girl video (which is below), and I mention the only two products my hair will ever need: Noodle Head curling cream and Aussie hairspray. I made the mistake in the video saying that the curling cream was 8 dollars, but it is only 6. I also forgot to mention in my video what shampoo & conditioner I use. I use Herbal Essence's shampoo & conditioner for color treated hair because I do color my hair. It doesn't have any effect, really, on my curls. Since curly hair is super dry, I don't shampoo everyday, just once every two days. I use my conditioner every day. I don't deep condition as much as I should, but I do it about once every month, and I normally get it done at a salon.

Styling my hair is actually pretty easy. Once I hop out of the shower, I just brush out the knots (and lord knows how many knots my hair is capable of creating), then put the cream in my hair, and "set" the hair with hairspray. Then I'm pretty much ready to go!

  1. I used to style my hair like that when it was long. Now that my hair is a little shorter than shoulder length, it doesn't work anymore. I started using john frieda's curl boost mousse mixed with victoria's secret so sexy hair shine serum, and it worked great.. in the summer. but once it started getting cold my hair frizzed so much. :-/ but then I found john frieda's curl perfecting spray at walmart for $5 and decided to give it a try.. best thing I've ever tried in my hair. thats all I need. I spray it on, I let it air dry, then to give it volume right before it dries completely, I flip my hair down and blow dry the roots, flip it back and its perfect! its amazing!!
