Face of the Day- March 23, 2012

posted on: 3.27.2012

I went to see The Hunger Games on its opening night (which was March 23). Considering that it was a 5:30 pm showing of the movie, I figured dressing up as Effie and doing her makeup and hair for the movie would be completely inappropriate and unnecessary. I am so thankful I did not go all out, considering that the theatre was empty. Yes, you read that correctly. Empty. Only in my area! But it was nice, I figured I would have to tune out obnoxious fangirls in the theatre but fortunately the only fangirl was ME.

Anyway, point is: I still wanted to spice up my makeup just a little bit for the movie. I was meeting up with some of my closest lady friends to see the movie and we had plans to go out after, so I just kept it simple and did a fun double (triple?) liner effect with some sparkly magenta on the lower lashline. I've been keeping it simple lately!

Since I can't braid my hair for crap, I had my mom do the Katniss braid on me. If you're unfamiliar with the Katniss braid, it is essentially just a Dutch braid (which is pretty much a French braid in reverse). I got the hair tutorial from Makeup Geek- click here to see it. It was really hard to photography my hair since it's so dark, but my mom did my sister's hair too and she has light brown hair so it is MUCH easier to see.
Also, we have really thick hair in my family so our braids are far from dainty! I also don't exactly remember what makeup products I used, so I might be leaving out a few things, sorry!

  1. Love your braid and your eye look! Hopefully I'm going to see this movie this week. I still need to read the last two books. I actually just finished The Hunger Games on Sunday. :-)
