Review: Makeup Designory 10 Blush Palette

Review: Makeup Designory 10 Blush Palette

posted on: 4.19.2012

This past weekend I attended the International Makeup Artist Trade Show (IMATS) in New York City, and let me just start off by saying that there was so much to see! I know I keep saying this, but I was completely overwhelmed and couldn't even handle the massiveness of the show. That being said, I did take advantage of this GREAT deal offered by Makeup Designory (MUD), which was a customizable 10-blush palette for only $55 (it normally costs $154 to make this palette!).

I have never entertained the idea of getting any products from MUD, mainly due to my ignorance of the brand and the lack of attention the brand gets on the blogosphere. The thing I like the most about IMATS is the fact that I, as both a consumer and make-up artist, get to try out products in person that I would normally have to just assume a product is good quality through multiple beauty reviews here on the Internet.
Most of the people who work at the booths at these trade shows are extremely unfriendly and essentially useless. However, I was extremely impressed by the service and friendliness from the people at the MUD booth. One of the ladies working there helped me choose the ten blushes to put in this palette. I explained to her that I was severely lacking in the blush department in my kit, and needed blushes that would prove to be useful on a large range of skintones. I don't remember her name, but the lady who helped me was incredibly helpful and provided some great insight on the MUD blushes. I got to play around with the blushes, and I am just going to say that the blushes I bought are absolutely wonderful.

Each blush refill contains 4 grams (0.141 oz) of product, for $13. For reference, a MAC blush refill comes in at about 6 grams (0.21 oz) of product, for $17. It's less product for less money though, and let's be honest: these blushes are going to last for a very long time. The pigmentation of these blushes is fantastic- it is on par, if not better, than high-end blushes. The blushes are soft and creamy, and aren't chalky or powdery at all. These go on nice and smooth, and blend beautifully. I have never had issues with blushes fading on me through the duration of the day, so I can't really tell you whether or not these have staying power, because all blushes seem to stay on me all day.

Overall, if you are a makeup artist looking for blushes for your kit, I totally recommend MUD. I am absolutely in love with this brand at the moment, and I do plan on purchasing more products from them. I also plan on purchasing the rest of their blushes that I don't have, because I think they're that good. These are available on their website, and some products are still available on MakeupGeek. Check out the swatches below!

  1. I'm excited to use lemon cream! The MUA that helped me was wearing it on top of her undereye concealer and it looked fabulous. I'm glad they were super nice there. Makes me want to buy more from them. ahem. mehron.

    1. I really wanted to try their foundations because I knew you swore by them and I stood there for a good 15 minutes, and when I finally got their attention, they were so unfriendly! So I just didn't feel like dealing with that lol.
