Review: Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighter

Review: Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighter

As was previewed last week, I won a giveaway hosted by Ashley Elizabeth, and one of the items I won was the Too Faced Candlelight Glow highlighter. For $29, you get 10 g (.35 oz) of product. You also get two shades of highlighter- a sheer gold and a gilded rose, which can both be mixed together as well. It was actually pretty difficult to get a good swatch picture from this highlighter since both shades are extremely similar.

For reference, my favorite highlighter, the NARS Nico blush, is $28 for .16 oz of product. For the price of the Too Faced highlighter, you get a ton of product, which is pretty nice. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish's are also $29 for 10 g (.35 oz) of product. It's all a matter of brand preference, I suppose. I would definitely choose the Too Faced highlighter over the MAC one because the Too Faced packaging is a lot sturdier and a whole lot cuter than the MAC packaging.

I don't use highlighters very often because I do get fairly oily by the end of the day, and I find that highlighters just add to the grease pit that is my face. The Too Faced highlighter, however, isn't too shimmery, and it adds just the right amount of glow to my face. I also really like using this right on my brow bone for a nice brow highlight. This highlighter is supposed to give the wearer a soft, youthful luminosity, which I definitely agree with. If you don't mind the price tag, then you may want to give this highlighter a look. But this isn't a revolutionary and completely unique highlighter either- so it definitely just depends on the consumer.

So the moral of the story? If you're looking for a highlighter that adds a nice luminosity to the skin, you may want to check this highlighter out. I wouldn't declare this highlighter as a "must-have", but it's a fairly nice highlighter with absolutely adorable packaging. And to be completely honest, if I hadn't have won this product in a giveaway, I wouldn't have ever considered checking it out.
