Fall 2012 Beauty Trend: Jewel Toned Eyes

Fall 2012 Beauty Trend: Jewel Toned Eyes

posted on: 9.12.2012

I think one of my favorite trends for this season are jewel-toned smoky eyes. Why? It's such a beautiful spin on the classic smoky eye, and looks good on everyone. There are so many different variations of the jewel-toned smoky eye that it never gets boring. For my look, I used my handy-dandy Yaby palette that I neglect far too often. I used some greens, blues, purples, and a hint of hot pink over a black kohl pencil to achieve the perfect colorful smoky eye.
Because this is such a powerful and stunning look, I kept the rest of the makeup toned down. I contoured my cheeks for a more defined look, and added a pinky-nude lip gloss to polish everything off. The products I used on the eyes are the following:

MAC Smoulder Eye Kohl (black base)
Yaby Best of Both Worlds Palette:
- Mystery Fog (peacock green, inner 1/3 of lid)
- Butterfly Blue (metallic royal blue, middle of lid)
-Eggplant (metallic royal purple, outer 1/3 of lid into crease)
-Dragon Fruit (hot pink, outer 1/2 of crease into purple)
-Mermaid Blue (shimmery aqua, inner corner)
- Smoked Maple (light mid-tone brown, transition crease color)
- Purple Iris (taupe-purple on lower lashline)
MAC Vanilla Eyeshadow (highlight)
Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black Ink (smudged on upper lashline and on waterline)
Makeup Forever Smoky Lash Mascara

Since I understand that the Yaby palette isn't necessarily easy to get your hands on (although you can buy each eyeshadow individually for $3.15 each) and is far from affordable (the palette retails for $136), I've compiled a list of other products you can use to achieve a similar look for this fall, including both high-end products and drugstore products. I do plan on creating a makeup tutorial for this look in the future, so fret not if you have no idea where to begin with this look!
one. two. three. four. five. six.
