NYFW Recap Post

With New York Fashion Week officially over, it is now my turn to take over NYFW: The Homebody's Guide. Exciting!! To kickstart The Homebody's Guide here on Brikasia, I'm going to show you guys my top three favorite collections, and my top three favorite beauty looks from the runway. Prepare yourselves!
It was a little difficult narrowing down my my favorite runway looks to just three, but I finally got it down to Lauren Moffatt, J.Crew, and Mara Hoffman. I'm a huge fan of a classic/preppy look, and J.Crew is literally the epitome of my ideal style. The whole J.Crew collection is a complete win for me, and the mixture of textures and prints for the spring is just so visually stunning. This was hands-down my favorite collection from fashion week, and I urge you to take a look at what J.Crew has in store for us during the spring.

Lauren Moffatt's collection completely rocked my world. I'm not very familiar with this label, but I have seen some of the label's swimsuits for sale on Modcloth. I stumbled upon this collection purely by chance, and with the retro/tennis/preppy vibe it was giving off, I was in LOVE. Moffatt's collection included some gorgeous swimsuits, dresses, and blazers, and makes me wish money grew on trees so I could afford to buy the whole collection. You can check out the collection here.

Last, but certainly not least, is Mara Hoffman's S/S collection. Filled with some fun psychedelic prints and Polynesian-inspired accents, this whole collection just screamed "fun" and "carefree". The whole collection makes me want to jet off to Hawaii and wear only these clothes throughout my whole trip. Not many designers would be able to pull this collection off, but Mara Hoffman can and she did.
Beauty-wise, I am completely obsessed with the makeup at the Ann Yee show (left). The makeup was all Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, and was so simple but so beautiful. I love the burnt orange lids with the fuschia shadow on the lower lashline, with the strong berry lip. This is actually one of the looks I'll be recreating this week, so watch out for that!

The makeup at the Nicole Miller show was also understated, with a pop of purple on the eye that is a bit unexpected. This soft smoky eye makeup was provided by MAC, using products that won't be launched until spring. If this is any indication of future collections, I'm pretty pumped up about it. I'm completely in love with the purple smoky eye.

The makeup at Imitation of Christ was provided by Hourglass Cosmetics, with fresh, beautiful makeup paired with vivid, matte lips. Many of the models were wearing a deep, wine colored lip, while others were wearing a bright pink lip. The skin was made very luminous, and the brows were kept well-groomed. It was a classically beautiful look that is very hard to mess up.

There are plenty of more collections that I thought were beautiful, but these were my top 3. I had to limit myself or else this would have been the most unnecessarily long blog post. Stay tuned this week as I recreate different makeup looks and talk about other fashion week goodies! (Plus you may be able to win some goodies starting next week... hint, hint!)
