Review: Smashbox "Be Legendary" Lipstick in Black Plum

The Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Black Plum is $19 is surprisingly difficult to find online. The only retailer I found that had it in stock was Ulta. I guess this is surprising to me because this is not a great lipstick. Now, I rarely write a bad review here on Brikasia because most of the time I am delightfully surprised at how good a product turns out to be. That is certainly not the case with this lipstick. I've never really been impressed with Smashbox as a brand (although there are more than enough people who sing their praises), and this lipstick didn't do the brand any justice.

I love myself a dark, vampy lipstick. What I don't love is a streaky application and the settling into lip lines that some darker lipsticks are more prone to doing. I also wish that this lipstick would have been a bit more pigmented. The lip swatch below is the result of me running the lipstick bullet back and forth on my lips, and using a lip brush to try and even the swatch out. I'm keeping this review short and to the point: I do not recommend this lipstick. I would not shell out $19 for this little tube of lipstick. I would like to try out some of the other "Be Legendary" lipsticks from Smashbox because I've heard good reviews, but the formula for this Black Plum shade is a total miss. Whomp, whomp.
