8 Easy Steps for the Quintessential Purple Smoky Eye

8 Easy Steps for the Quintessential Purple Smoky Eye

posted on: 7.05.2013

It's been a while since I've posted a picture tutorial, and I promised this tutorial a couple of months ago. So before I start rambling, here is an easy tutorial to create a purple smoky eye.

  1.  Apply a wash of a light lavender eyeshadow from the lid and into the crease. I used MAC Digit eyeshadow.
  2. Use a shimmery purple eyeshadow and apply to the lid and the lower lashline. I used Urban Decay's Psychedelic Sister. Make sure to blend it well into the crease.
  3. Now it's time to deepen the crease. I used a combination of MAC Indian Ink and MAC Sketch eyeshadows to deepen the crease, and I used a pencil brush for precise application.
  4. On the inner corners, add a light, shimmery color. I used a combination of MAC Digit and MAC Shroom eyeshadows.
  5. Add a highlight to your browbone. I used MAC Vanilla.
  6. Using a black pencil eyeliner, line your eyes, and use a brush (I used the MAC 237) to smudge it out. Also apply to the waterline.
  7. Add mascara.
  8. Then add lashes. You can add an additional coat of mascara after the lashes are applied.
And that's it! This is just one way of creating a purple smoky eye. On the cheeks, I contoured using a bronzer and added a shimmery, peach blush on the apples of my cheeks. On my lips, I used a pink lip liner and a nude lip gloss on top. Hope you all enjoyed this tutorial! Let me know if you have any questions!
