Stila Stay All Day Prime and Anti-Shine Balm, makeup, mattifier
If you're like me, you're always looking for something to help tame the greasepit on your face. Stila recently released a new mattifying product, called the Stay All Day Prime and Anti-Shine Balm ($30). According to the package, this can be worn both under and over makeup as a primer, to set your makeup, and can also mattify skin, eliminating shine. This product is ideal for all skin types and skin tones, and has a sheer and lightweight formula. I have combination skin, but when it is hot and humid out (which is like 9 months here in Florida), my skin has a tendency to be extremely oily. So how did this product work out for me?

First, let's talk about the texture. I love the way this felt on my skin. It feels like velvet, and unlike most mattifying products, it did not pill on my skin. It slipped onto the skin nicely. I used my fingers to apply it, but I like how underneath the product is a separate compartment with a sponge that you can use with the product, which makes this great to travel with.

Performance-wise, this did better than I expected. I've come to terms with the fact that I will always have to blot my face during the day. While this product doesn't completely prevent me from being oily, it does hold off the oily factor for a couple of hours. Typically, it only takes an hour after applying my makeup for me to get shiny. With this product, it takes 2-3 hours for me to get shiny. It doesn't get cakey on me, which I really like. I think if you have combination skin, this is the perfect product for you. You don't need a lot of product either, so this will last you a very long time.

For all of my fellow oily-skinned people, understand this: it is not healthy for your skin to be completely oil-free for long periods of time. If you use a product that completely blocks the oil from coming through all day, you are almost definitely clogging your pores and making your oil glands work overtime, which will result in even more oily skin. So if you're looking for something to help with shininess for a healthy amount of time, then you might want to check this product out.

Have any of you tried this or any other mattifiers out on the market? Let's compare notes!
