The Makeup Show Orlando 2013: Recap!

The Makeup Show Orlando 2013: Recap!

the makeup show, the makeup show orlando
This past weekend I was fortunate enough to attend The Makeup Show Orlando. If you are unfamiliar with The Makeup Show, think of it as a smaller, pro-only version of IMATS. If you are unfamiliar with IMATS, then there is no hope for you. Just kidding! The Makeup Show is a makeup trade show that is for professionals in the beauty industry. I am a freelance makeup artist, but this year I was able to attend the show as press (aka as a blogger), and was so thrilled! There was so much education and artistry at the show, along with amazing discounts at some of my favorite makeup brands.

Friday evening I had the pleasure of attending the Blogger Preview. Each blogger got an amazing swag bag as we listened to James Vincent talk to us about what to expect at the show and about some of his favorite products that were in our bags. Saturday and Sunday I tried to limit my shopping (LOL yea right) and tried to attend as many keynotes and seminars as I could. Last year, I didn't go out of my way to see any keynote speakers. This year, with speakers such as David Klasfeld of OCC, Sharon Gault, and Billy B, I made it my business to attend their keynotes. I only attended a couple of seminars (as they were always packed with no seats left!), but I can't even begin to describe how inspired I am feeling as a result of this past weekend.

Besides attending the keynotes and seminars, I spent most of the weekend hanging out with my blogging buddies at the Cult Nails booth. I probably come off as a super Cult Nails fangirl on this blog, but for realsies: their polishes are the BOMB. Not to mention how amazing sweet and awesome Maria and John are. Now before I get too wordy on you all, I'm just going to show off some of the pictures I took this past weekend. If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably already seen these.

(1) Super amazing and detailed body painting going on at the Kett Cosmetics booth.
(2) This girl was walking around with this amazing superhero body painting and prosthetic face mask/thingamabobber. I have no idea who did her makeup, though.
(3) Me and the always lovely Cristina of Let Them Have Polish.
(4) Some vampires were walking around the show, so we flagged them down and had them take a picture holding some Cult Nails polishes.
(5) I met the supremely talented and amazingly sweet Billy B!
(6) I also met the crazy talented Laura from Face Off!

(7) Me and Maria of Cult Nails!
(8) Another amazing body painting done by students of the Make Up For Ever Academy.
(9) Me and Kari of Once Bitten Blog!
(10) Me and Stephanie from Imperfectly Painted!
(11) Me and Alyssa from Pretty Little Bottles! (And John photobombing us)
(12) Me and Mina from her self-titled blog, Mina Slater!
(13) The damage done. Talk about a haul!

I would like to take this space to thank The Makeup Show for treating us bloggers very well, and for putting on yet another fantastic show. As you can tell by the last picture above, I have quite a lot of goodies to review here. I won't review them all, but I am interested to hear whether or not you guys want me to review anything from the picture above. Happy Tuesday, y'all!

  1. So sad I missed it!! You picked up some great stuff!

    1. It was a great show! You'll have to go next year!

  2. (◕‿◕) prettyyyyyy.
it would be interesting to see a review on the gleam products. i was thinking of getting them at IMATS next time around.

    1. Consider it done! I love gleam, wish I knew about it sooner!

  3. Oh my lanta, look at that haul. The event looked amazing and it would be so nice to go to a makeup event focused more on makeup instead of YouTubers and their meet-ups! I'd've loved to see the speakers and hear what they had to say! Amazing :) I'd love for you to review the Makeup Forever Flash palette! I've always been intrigued by it!
