Let's Take A Moment & Talk About Books, Shall We?

Let's take a break from our regularly scheduled beauty programming to talk about books. One of my goals for 2014 (the word "resolution" has such a negative connotation to it, dontcha think?) is to read more. I've always been a huge reader. While other kids were were playing games of "who can break a limb first?" and flirting on the monkey bars, I was on a bench outside with my head stuck in a book.

Since you probably don't care about my fond childhood memories of reading, I'm just going to cut to the chase: I rarely have the time to sit down and read a good book. Towards the end of last year, I began making it my mission to read whenever I could. I extended that goal into 2014, and am determined to read at least two books per month, which pales in comparison to what I would read back in high school. I know a lot of you have goals to read more, so I have included some of my personal favorites, along with a compilation of books I would like to read.

  1.   The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
  2.  Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling
  3.  Bossypants by Tina Fey
  4.  How Did You Get This Number by Sloane Crosley
  5.  Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
  6.  Half the Sky by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn
Wish List
  1. I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban
  2. Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg
  3. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
  4. And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
  5. The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
  6. Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple
So now I ask you this: What are some books that you recommend? I'm always looking for something new to read!

  1. Great recommendations and wishlist!

  2. I haven't read the kiterunner, but seeing the movie was pretty heavy. It was a sad but good story, I know reading the book would go into more details in leave me with a emotional hangover for about two weeks. I like the title is everyone hanging out without me, that probably is another good one.
