May Lindstrom The Clean Dirt review and swatch, powder cleanser, green beauty, natural face cleansers, organic skincare regime
Alright, you guys. My life has forever been changed. As dramatic as that may seem, I am not even kidding. As you guys probably already know, I have struggled with acne for most of my life. At the age of 21, I do believe it is time for my skin to stop behaving like a rebellious teenager and like, get a job and become an adult and be cool, ya know? So imagine my surprise when I am introduced to an all-natural cleanser that people swear that it clears up their skin. If I had a nickel for every time someone told me a cleanser would clear my skin... (I'd have like, seven nickels.)

When I placed an order at BeauTeaBar for some nail polish or something (I can't remember), Marissa sent me a sample of The Clean Dirt. She swore it helped clear up her skin and that this would work magic. The sample was enough for a few days, so I gave it a try. And you guys!!! I could see the difference in my skin within two days. MAGIC. SORCERY. I don't really know. But this stuff works wonders!

I ordered the full size product at BeauTeaBar, and while the price is steep ($60), it is completely worth it. The Clean Dirt contains "an energizing blend of cleansing clays, warming spices and healing salts" and has the most delicious spicy scent to it. The coolest thing about The Clean Dirt is that all 6.76 oz of that beautiful black glass bottle contains only powder. You're basically getting a ton of product for your money. You pour about a tablespoon of product into your palm, and add a few drops of water to it to activate the cleanser. It becomes a mousse consistency, and you can see this magic in action in this video from May Lindstrom herself.

Another cool thing about this product is that instead of adding water to it, you can add manuka honey to the powder mixture and make a rejuvenating face mask. The manuka honey will work wonders on your skin, I swear! While my skin is not completely clear (thanks, hormones!), it is a lot more noticeably clearer. I'm still dealing with breakouts around that time of the month, but the texture of my skin is so much nicer. I've been put on all sorts of antibiotics and prescription creams, but I have to say... The Clean Dirt has been SO much more effective, and a hell of a lot cheaper! But don't think The Clean Dirt is JUST for acne-prone skin. It is great for all skin types, so now you have no excuse NOT to try it.

Alright, enough fangirling over a facial cleanser. I have other things I need to fangirl about, such as the Olympics. Have you ever tried anything from May Lindstrom? Let me know!

  1. I heard Shannon from Glamour Wonderland talk about this stuff, and I was intrigued. Then I hopped to the website and watched the video, and I was hooked! I -really- want to try this stuff out, bc I have crazy hormonal acne and it's been a pain to try and calm it D: I wanted to treat myself for my birthday, and it's coming up next month, yay! Pretty excited :3 thanks for this post, helped remind me to put it in my wish list. Maybe another thing to add to your nickels, but have you tried Rose Hip Oil? I like to cleanse, use an exfoliating toner, wait about 5 min, then rub a generous amount of R.H. Oil on my face and massage for about 5-10 min. Then wipe away with a hot cloth and just leave any remainder to moisturize my skin. I've just started this routine and really like it- I'd do it 2-3x a week at night. Hang in there with the acne battle, I totally know what you're going through!

    1. It's funny that you mention Rose Hip Oil, I have been hearing about it so much! I recently used an oil that had some RH Oil mixed in with it, and I really liked it. I'm gonna have to give the real thing a try! And yea, this stuff is addicting lol.

  4. Awesome review! I'm so glad that you are loving the Clean Dirt. It is pricey, but you will see that that bottle will last at least three months!

  5. I remember those acne angst filled days all too well. Mine lasted until I was almost 30. I tried so many different things from prescriptions to otc meds to cleansers to homemade treatments. Ugh! I wish I had something like this back in the day.
