Did any of you guys watch the VMAs this year? Well, it was a total snoozefest until Queen Bey KILLED IT with a medley of songs from her latest album, but I must say... The makeup looks at the show were ON. POINT. I'm not really into the Kardashian clan, but I gotta give it to the youngest one, Kylie Jenner. Her makeup look was stunning and is such a great look for a toned-down yet still amped-up makeup look for special events! I teamed up with the wonderful ladies of The Beauty Council to give you a breakdown of my favorite look from the VMAs.
Now what is The Beauty Council, you may ask? Well, simply put, we are a group of diverse beauty bloggers who will be curating a new take on beauty twice a month. We'll feature our take on our favorite celebrity looks, do beauty challenges, and so much more. I am so proud to be apart of this group of amazing women! With that aside, here's how to create the Kylie Jenner look!

First I applied the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin all over the lid and into the crease. Using the Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette, I applied Stark all over the lid, and Skimp on the center of my lid. I took Frisk, Cover, + Primal and gradually deepened the crease. I also used a combination of Stark and Cover on the lower lashline, and Skimp on the browbone. Next, I used MAC Soft Brown to help blend the crease out, and to warm up the colors a bit. Then, taking MAC Blacktrack Fluidline, I created a winged liner. Last, I used the Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara to amp up my lashes. Really pile on that mascara for the quintessential Kardashian look. Feel free to add false lashes, too!

After you apply your ~flawless~ base (because the Kardashians are all about flawless skin!), use a matte contour powder or bronzer to contour your face and add some warmth to the skin. I used the Bobbi Brown Bronzer in Natural. Then use a rose-mauve blush on your cheekbones (I used Le Metier de Beaute's Traviata Blushing Bronze Duet). You may also choose to use a highlighter here, but my skin is already pretty oily so I skipped this step.

Now for the gorgeous plummy mauve lip! Kylie clearly overdraws her lips so they look fuller, but I don't like my lips looking like that so I skipped that. First I used MAC Soar Lip Liner to line my lips and fill them in. Then I took my Too Faced Melted Nude Lipstick and applied it lightly over the liner. To top it off, I used the La Bella Figura Hydrating Lip Color in Lissette La Coquette to achieve the perfect color for this look.

And that's it! Pretty easy for event makeup, if you ask me. Check out what the other ladies of The Beauty Council did for their VMAs inspired look!
