Two of my favorite makeup looks are the smokey eye and cateye. So, obviously, the best of two worlds would be the smokey cateye look. Brilliant! I've been doing this look constantly in recent months, and not only does it photograph well, but it garners a lot of compliments as well. Curious as to how to achieve this look? Read on for the full tutorial!

  1. After applying primer, apply a neutral brown, shimmery eyeshadow all over your lid (I used CARA Cosmetics Kiev).
  2. Blend the brown eyeshadow with a nude eyeshadow close to your skin tone into the crease. I used this one.
  3. Take a black pencil eyeliner (I'm currently obsessed with this one) and line your upper lashline.
  4. Using a stiff, flat brush, smudge the eyeliner and wing it out.
  5. After winging out your eyeliner, take a black eyeshadow (I love CARA Cosmetics Shanghai shadow) and smudge over the eyeliner and bring it under the eye.
  6. With the same pencil eyeliner used previously, line your waterline.
  7. Apply a neutral glitter on your inner lower lashline. I love this one by Make Up For Ever in #3.
  8. Apply your mascara. I've been using this one a lot recently.
  9. Apply a light peachy blush on the top of your cheekbones (I'm using CARA Cosmetics Hollywood) and contour your face (I'm using CARA Cosmetics Nagoya).
  10. Apply your lip color. You can go neutral or bright here. I'm going for a happy medium- the YSL Glossy Stain in #15.
And that's it! Once you get the hang of it, this process goes by super quickly and is a quick and easy way to add some drama to your everyday life.

    1. Thank you Allison! Definitely give that a try. Then when you pat a black eyeshadow on top of the smudged liner, it'll help smooth out your lines.
