Some More Thoughts on Blogging

Some More Thoughts on Blogging

posted on: 12.10.2015

Well, well, well! Look at who the cat dragged in (hint: it's ME!). Before I start launching into my regular blog content, I just wanted to write a post about where I've been and what I see happening in the future. I don't imagine this is going to be one of those ~deep~ posts, but you never know. I've actually been sitting on this post for the past week, because I'm not entirely sure what to say or how to say it, so here goes nothing.

I love to write. Always have, and probably always will. A little over five years ago when I decided I wanted to start blogging, I didn't imagine all the opportunities that would present themselves to me throughout the course of my blogging "career," if you could even call it that. To me, blogging was an outlet where I could fulfill my creative needs and channel all this crazy creative energy in a constructive and fun way.

But, like most things in life, soon blogging became more of a chore. Blogging is non-stop work if it is your goal to monetize and continue growing a blog. It's mentally exhausting. It's still fun putting together posts, but it's a lot of work. Most of my blog posts take around 8 hours to complete. Even my most basic blog post requires a minimum of 2 hours. Blogging requires a lot of time and energy that, quite frankly, I no longer have. I realize this is sounding more and more like a "woe is me" type of post, but please know that is not my intention at all!

What I'm trying to say is that my priorities have changed in recent months, and I have other things that I am interested in pursuing. That being said, I'm not quite ready to let go of blogging. It's too much fun! But, because I do have a full-time job and other commitments, I won't be blogging as regularly as I used to. My goal is at least to post once a week, but I'm not going to make myself crazy about it. I'm going to start up my Instagram again (I took a little break from that too), so I do hope you'll follow me on there for more updates.

Anyway, I just wanted to write this so you guys know where I'm at. I have a bajillion posts in my drafts folder that need some finishing up, so trust me: there is no shortage of posts to be found. I'm not quite finished with you, blogging! I'll be back next week with some beauty content, hurray!
